In a newspaper account of 1836 in Windsor, Adolphus Frederick Lloyd, of the Royal Household, is described as a confectioner.

In 1847 Adolphus Frederick Lloyd, confectioner, of Brighton, is declared bankrupt.
There are other articles describing sale of goods, premises for rent that have been expensively fitted out and in excellent repair, plate-glass window, refreshment room, admirably adapted for pastry cook and confectioner.
