I may well be wrong but as far as I am aware, the same 100 year rule applies to the Irish 1911 as to the English.  It won't be released for public viewing until 2011

I have heard that due to the lack of earlier censuses they have released the 1911 for research early.  I'm not aware that it's available online.

Presumably it won't be name indexed.    One of the websites I found using a search engine states as follows:

"The 1911 Irish census did survive and is available at the National Archives of Ireland"

Hi all

1911 Irish census is definitely available from the Irish National Archives in Dublin. This gives the low-down:
http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy/censusrtns.html
and the rest of that site is very handy for what's available and where.

I have some notes from 2000 when I went looking... you're not looking for Strabane Co. Tyrone folk by any chance?

Best of luck
Ger :)

The 1911 census is available from LDS. You can order film and view it at your local Family History Center. Check Family Search for film numbers.

OR as Pat says, have a chat to your local LDS and order the films.
Good luck!
