Sorry no trace of them anywhere UK on the 1881 under Higham or Hyam.

They must be either mistranscribed or out of the country. Do you have any other spellings you may have come across in your research?

I had already looked at England and Wales but Edwin was in the army so I thought that he might be at a base in Scotland. I suppose that it must point to the other - that they were out of the country.
