In case your wondering 1901 ..................Davenport covers both the "Districts" of York East and York West!
Its a long road in Toronto!

Click on this url, then click on 1901 then type in Davenport, "without the Road".............. This road, Davenport in Toronto, is in "York County" and it stretches a great distance.  I can only suggest you look at maps of Toronto for confirmation.
http://www.ontarioroots.com/1911/index.html

At this url........... you will see the microfilims that covers this street in 1901 census records, even tho this website is not complete and as humans we do have errors.  But you will be, therefore able to look and access at your own time at the Archives website which holds the originals, in which I mentioned before in a previous posting.  I had an ancestor who lived on this street and it covers a lot of area in Toronto and it can be a needle in a hay stack

If you want click on 1911 for an experiment, it will give you York South, Toronto North "and" Toronto West............. it all depends on the time frame you are looking for, as 1901 is 10 years prior to 1911, and districts change.   Go through it all, and see where it will take you.  If not ,check back into an 1891 cenus in England for Harry on a confirmation of a birth, even a year of birth, this will take you more greater distance for research on finding this man.

In kindest regards,  Adeline

Just trying to help you out.............nothing more.

There is now a Harry Weston born 1881 on the 1911...imm. 1905 and not
near Toronto, I guess...but not sure why he has to be living in Toronto

Did we ever get an actual birthdate on him?

OOOps, sorry, just saw the M by his name...seeing him listed alone I
thought he was on his own....

Any new information on the war sign up records?

Just found all these posts. Thanks everybody!! I will spend tomorrow looking through everything and keep you informed. Still not 100% sure on date of birth I'm afraid but i would say 1881 is the more reliable date as this is from the british census information (1891 census).

Thanks once again for all your help on this,

Danielle :)

You're quite right;  today no one would ever think of Davenport Rd as being in East York or Toronto East or anything similar, but in 1901 it appears that a minority of the street was counted as "East".  Borders were undoubtedly different.
