Obtaining a will from post 1980
« on: Tuesday 22 November 05 15:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Has anyone ever applied for a copy of a will written post 1980? If so, how did you go about it?

I would like to know if a particular person in my family left a will. I know which region she was living in when she died, so i would require a search by the appropriate office.

Any help would be appreciated.

Paula

http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1226.htm - everything you need to know, here.  Never tried for such a recent will myself, but it doesn't look like there's any restrictions in particular.  If you have her death certificate you'd have all the information they require.
