Hi,

Not entirely convinced by "Dyer Shop".  Can you post the reference for this entry (RG  Folio x Page Y etc.)?  I'd like to look up the whole page and compare the handwriting with other entries on this and adjacent pages.

Looks like Dyer Shop to me - look at the "D" in daughter -  how could it be anything else?

I agree it says Dyer and the word Shop appears elsewhere on the page, written just the same.

Hi all,
His occupation is "Dyer" and the enumerator has probably later on written in "shop" to indicate that the Dyer didn't work at home, but in a shop or business establishment.
You often find extra scribbles by the enumerators on the census returns, usually to do with the occupations.
