Quote
date of death for Thomas as 1874 and you have 1871

It might be a mis-transcription, especially if the gravestone is worn.  I'll have a look the next time I'm out that way.

Hi Di,

Transcription does have 1871 - which as his death is registered in 1874 must either be a transcription error or as Leonie said maybe worn and error made that way.

there are another 21 Medcalf's buried at Rookwood, I will do a list of names and dates and if any interest you, let me know and I will list the details :

Albert H J -  Aug 1902
Albert J  - 25 Oct 1929
Alice Mary  - 29 Nov 1964
Allen - 30 Aug 1967
Charles S - 31 Aug 1920

Kerrie Lyn - 9 Oct 1988
Louisa Elizabeth - 6 Jan 1911
Marnie - 29 Jun 1967
Martha - 18 Nov 1961

Hi Carol,

Wow! I didn't realise there would be so many Medcalfs buried at Rookwood. It will take me a while to check them all so I will get back to you if any are from my family.

Many thanks for looking and listing all of them.

Spunkymungbeans - The year of death for Thomas is not a priority but if you are out that way, would appreciate any information.

Thank you both very much

Regards
Di

Meanwhile, I was wondering if someone could do me a favour.

I have finally discovered that my 3rd-great grand aunt is buried in the Church of England Section of Rookwood.  She died at a great age at Newington Asylum without leaving children so I've got my fingers crossed there is a gravestone.

Her husband:
Thomas Lambert died 1908

and

Emma Kezia Lambert died 5 Aug 1911

Do either of these appear in any of the transcription CDs?

Thanks Carol.  I suspected there wouldn't be a gravestone.

Hi Leonie,

Have you been back to Rookwood yet? Still waiting patiently for the John Javez Salier grave pics if it is at all possible!
Anyone else able to make a visit there at all?

Thanks,
Sue

Ah the Salier monument!  Thanks for reminding me.  Between the weather and various appts I didn't make it last week.  Now that it is fine again, I will try for tomorrow.

Cheers
