McQuinn and Gandy Families
« on: Thursday 24 November 05 02:35 GMT (UK) »

Seeking information on the McQUINN and GANDY families of Lancashire and Cheshire.  This information sought by Patricia Kavcic, the daughter of Ada Gwendoline McQuinn who at age 4 in 1909 was sent to Canada.

The three McQuinn daughters, Ada Gwendoline McQuinn (aged 4), Dorothy McQuinn (aged 6) and Florence McQuinn (aged 8) came to Canada (Knowlton Quebec) on the Corsican via the Liverpool Sheltering home in 1909.  Their parents were James Thomas McQuinn ( b: abt 1877, age 24 in 1901 census) and Ada Emily Gandy (b: abt 1869, age 32 in 1901 census).  In 1904 the family lived at 55 Woodfield Road, Altrinchan, Cheshire.

The 1891 census list McQuinn family on Waterloo Road, Runcorn.

Any information or suggestions greatly appreciated.  Patricia Kavcic is hoping to identify other family members and to establish a family connection to England.  Patricia Kavcic has no knowledge of relatives in England or any details of her parent’s families.

Hello Dennis
i was wondering if i could be of any help to you.I love going through the Postal directories.otherwise known as Historical Directories.Because you can trace a persons whereabouts year by year. Its amazing how many times people move and changed jobs in between one census and and the next.Things one would never about if it was for the Postal Diretori es.The library have the Gores P.D from the 1700 down to right down to more recent years.I found lots of information Yesterday (see example on my Rake lane topic above) If you would like me to  trace particular Names (Full) back through the years i will be happy to that if i can. Using the info on your post. It wont be till January though because i am away next week ,then Christmas.

Celia P.S dont need the family Tree just names will do ;)
