McQuinn and Gandy Families
« on: Thursday 24 November 05 02:37 GMT (UK) »

Seeking information on the McQUINN and GANDY families of Lancashire and Cheshire.  This information sought by Patricia Kavcic, the daughter of Ada Gwendoline McQuinn who at age 4 in 1909 was sent to Canada.

The three McQuinn daughters, Ada Gwendoline McQuinn (aged 4), Dorothy McQuinn (aged 6) and Florence McQuinn (aged 8) came to Canada (Knowlton Quebec) on the Corsican via the Liverpool Sheltering home in 1909.  Their parents were James Thomas McQuinn ( b: abt 1877, age 24 in 1901 census) and Ada Emily Gandy (b: abt 1869, age 32 in 1901 census).  In 1904 the family lived at 55 Woodfield Road, Altrinchan, Cheshire.

Marriage between James McQuinn and Ellen Pope looking probable: FreeBMD has birth and death of Ellen Pope McQuinn in Runcorn (Sep Q 1880 - Mar Q 1882).  A second Ellen Pope McQuinn was born Sep Q 1885.

I have a connection to the daughter Clara Gandy, of George Gandy and Elizabeth Kenwright.  Clara I Gandy was my great great grandmother on my mothers side.
