Davis Mansions - Spitalfields - 1890's
« on: Monday 28 November 05 11:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks.
I am trying to find a picture of Davis Mansions which I understand stood in New Goulston Street, Spitalfields, and was home to some 1,000 poor Jews. I have tried all the previously suggested sites on Rootschat without success. Thanks for your help. Ken

Hi Ken

You might try emailing Tower Hamlets Archive here who are generally very helpful http://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/templates/services/services-detail.cfm?sid=2378

Good luck

Hi Ken I've just seen an old post of yours about Davis Mansions.  My family lived there in the early C20th, my great grandfather was Moses Solomons, his wife was Tobar Annie.  I wonder if we have a connection.

Hello Curious Girl and welcome to RootsChat.

Unfortunately kamakaziken has not been online here since 2014. If he still has the same email address he will receive notification of your post.

Apart from a possible connection to kamakaziken, is there any help we can give you  re the SOLOMONS family?

Hi and thanks for this reply.  Sounds like I won't be hearing from Ken, although I'll live in hope.  On his Davis Mansions thread he had a reply from ucgidget who is also a Solomons connection but I can't see how to message them, and I'd like to.  Perhaps the whole thread is just too old?

My family all lived in Davis Mansions, surnames are Solomons, Linnick and Rothenberg, so I'm looking for any connections to those names.
