Born Newington London(U.K) 1879
Samuel was a shipping clerk on the 1901 census.
I have photos of him taken circa 1907
He has vanished off the face of the earth 
Checked U.K WW1 death records.
Also Henrietta Elizabeth Lane  nee Heaton(Not his wife as far as I know) Born 24/12/1886 Lewisham Kent .

Search for both Samuel Meldrum Lane and Lane Samuel Meldrum, there's several records, involving bankruptcy looks like: one in 1930 says he was resident at HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs!

The business address that keeps coming up is 110 Cheapside in London.  Later he is resident at 13, Wiltshire Road, Brixton.  He is listed as a paper merchant in several of the records.
