:D  Is this site any use.   New Zealand Passenger Arrivals....

     www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/dbtw-wpd/passengers/passenger.html

This gives a search page for passengers.
I tried to post it but it won't go across to here? It's one site given to me on the thread for Emigrants to New Zealand.

                            :D  Lesanne.   :D

Just read the original internet article about the sampler again and it says:

"The census of 1851 shows that Hannah was a scholar who lived on Pig Hill with her father Samuel and stepmother Susanna"

Doh!  How did I miss that ???

;D  Hi Jan & Allan, looks like you were bitten by the same bug that I was ;D
'Gotta know, gotta know ;)'
Always good to confirm information thus building up a picture of that persons life...well done
Lessanne, thanks for that link, I'll have a look through it later.  Nearly went blind last night trawling similar lists!
I'll update the original thread in the common room with this information as I sent an email last night to the Castle Combe museum telling them what we were finding and referred them to that link.
My only triumph yesterday was to establish from Kelly's Directories, 1866 & 1867, that William Breley was NOT the schoolmaster at Brightling school, that distinction went to a William White.
The main task is to find out IF & WHEN William & Hannah sailed to NZ ???
Back to the passenger lists :)

Jane
