Walter John Norton
« on: Monday 28 November 05 19:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone have access to the National Roll of The Great War for London. I am seeking info on Walter John Norton, he was born on 24/01/98, I believe in Poplar. He survived the war, possibly served in the RE and he may have been invalided out of the army before the war ended.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ian,
When you have some more details, regiment , service no. etc check out this at the national archive:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/browse-refine.asp?CatID=10&searchType=browserefine&pagenumber=1&query=*&queryType=1

It is the campaign medal details from WW1,
I had a quick check and there were 44 Walter Nortons. 2 of them were in the RE.

There are no Walter Nortons on the Great Roll for London.  People had to pay to have their name on it and so it is not a complete list of people who fought.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your input, I have looked at the MIC, I was just trying to see if I could narrow things down a bit.

Hi Sylviaanne,

Thanks for looking, as above, I was hoping to narrow diown my options.

Never mind.

Regards
