Hi Reg,

You are absolutely right.  There are some excellent graves in Scotland.  They seem to like including lots of info.

A big brickwall was broken for me when I found this grave...

In Memory of James Scott who died at Torduff 4th July 1834 age 67
Also Dorcas Bell spouse of James Scott Torduff who died 9th April 1819 age 52.
And Janet their daughter who died 6th August 1811 age 10 months.
Also George their son who was lost with the crew of the Brig Village of Newcastle on Cromar Sands, Norfolk 31st October 1823 age 25 years and Jane their daughter who died at Annan 21st November 1849 age 49.
And Christine daughter of John Scott of Annan who died 9th April 1823 age 10 months.
Also James his son who died at Bueonos Aires 19th May 1851 age 23 And the above named John Scott who died 17th April 1859 age 66 Also Robert Scott his son who died at Annan 21st December 1862 age 29

Grave in Dornock kirkyard.

The information on the shipwrecks as far as I know is not available anywhere (haven't investigated Lloyds yet).  So this is invaluable.

Though it does give me a mystery.  John Scott is my 4xggrandfather as confirmed through the death of son Robert in 1862 BUT who is Christine?  I cannot find any trace of a baptism and she was born well before John's marriage to my 4xggrandma Helen Carruthers.  A wee mystery for me thanks to the words cast in stone.

hi Boongie Pam.
This was with this photo, think you may like it.
You are shrouded in the mists of time.
A shadow of the days since past.
            But slowly,and with loving CARE,
            I discover you at last.
            Deftly,I uncover all,
And bare your soul for all to see.
I have a feeling deep inside,
That you may not approve of me.
As I peep and pry into your life,
             I uncover secrets long forgot.
I reveal things you tried to hide,
And tell of a past you'd rather not.
              Curiosity sent me first,
Soon replaced by a sense of pride.
I am now, because you were then,
And you are forever by my side.
                  Regards
                               Reg.

Oh wow!  ;D

That's so lovely and so true.

I feel slightly guilty sometimes when you find the family secrets that must of hurt to keep.
