Seems that even officialdom can't decide between "preventive" and "preventative", so what chance do we have !

Talking of odd occupations, I expect a lot of you will probably remember this 1881 census entry which "went the rounds" of the boards a few years back.  It still makes me smile though.  I was staggered to see that the LDS still have it on the 1881 census website!  Maybe it is genuine, and not the work of a transcriber with a sense of humour!

It must have been a bit of a squash at 16 Acacia Gardens too, cos the neighbours seem to have managed without any servants, let alone 20!!

Many thanks!  Yes, it could be something to do with the Navy or similar as this is for my girlfriend and her family is from Plymouth.  Her grandfather & ggrandfather were both shipwrights at HM Dockyard!
