Charlotte Thomas& William Hopkins

I'm looking for information regarding two people. Firstly, my great great grandmother Charlotte. Charlotte (nee unknown) married a man with the surname Thomas, somewhere in England.
Charlotte was the mother of my great grandmother Sarah Ann Thomas {born 1843/45 (?) England died 1922 Australia } who married my great grandfather William Rutt Hopkins in Birmingham England.

I am also trying to find the identity of William Rutt Hopkins's father. I know he was also named William and he is listed as a gentleman on certificates in my possession. I have no idea when William was born but I do know his son William Rutt was born around 1843(?) in Cairns, England. There is a rumour in the family that our Hopkins family owned an inn on the Wiltshire Downs near Stonehenge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Sarah Ann Thomas was born in Birmingham England.

i have a marriage for a william hopkins and sarah thomas on 3rd march 1872 at st judes birmingham could this be your couple?

Alli,
we believe Sarah was married between 1871 and 1873 to William. She died the 12th June 1922 in Australia age 77 years.

then thats fairly likely to be them. when did they emigrate do you know?

On Sarah's death certificate it states she was in Victoria for  48(?) years. The script is poor. This would point towards 1874 as the period of immigration. However, on William's certificate (he died the 25th of July 1905 at 62 years) it states he had lived in Australia for 22 years. This would point to 1883 as his time of arrival. Obviously there is an error. We do know they came here married.

By the way, William was 28 years old when he married Sarah, which I just realised puts their marriage at 1871!

There was also a female servant and 4 'inmates'- all males with trades so perhaps they were paying guests?

Hi again- IGI has a marriage of William Rutt Hopkins to Maria Giddings 3 Mar 1836 at Market Lavington. There are also several other entries for baptisms of William Hopkins of Market Lavington but could not be sure that any fit.
