Parish Records for Oxford
« on: Sunday 04 December 05 19:59 GMT (UK) »
HI,

I need to come over to Oxford and look through the old parish registers for Oxford, esp. Charlbury and Enstone.

I have looked on the archiives site for Oxford, but it only tells me how to access the registration indexes.  :-\

How can I access the parish records?

Thanks

Oxfordshire FHS has produced CDS or fiche for most Oxfordshire parishes.  Check their site.  You will also find many local FHS have purchased them for their libraries.

Hi Debbie ...

All the Oxfordshire parish register transcriptions are held at the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies (google for full information).

If you want to look at actual (original) PRs you'll need to visit the Oxfordshire Record Office.

Hi Debbie

All of the transcriptions and indexes in the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies were produced by the members of Oxfordshire FHS. Many are available on CD, and all are available on microfiche. Might save you a trip to Oxford at this busy time of year !

Best wishes.
