In 1901 (via census decoder) there is a Geo Oppenhiem (note spelling, age 21 born Manchester, a Clerk, Shippers in South Manchester district

Could this be a lead

Brilliant Sarah thank you!  That was the family home and business premises in the heart of Manchester from about 1880 onwards and was called Schwerin House and York House at various stages in their occupation.
