does anybody know how I can find the passengers list from the ship called the  'Mauretania'. A relative travelled back on it from India in 1941/42.Would the list still exsist?

"Mauritania, pride of the Cunard Line. She was launched early in 1939."
Cunard White Star Line.
In my youth!! I used to know someone who was a steward on board - well post 1941/2 though.
I think she was known as the RMS Mauritania. Can't help you further afraid,

During WWII the RMS Mauretania was a troopship and it is likely that any records of passengers during this period would be with the MOD papers at the NAS if they survived at all.

During WWII nearly all of Cunards ships and crews were transferred "for the duration" to the War office/Admiralty and the government basically took over the management of the fleet for a fixed fee paid to Cunard.

Any passenger details would have been retained by the Government.
