hello keith
i have some records on crosthwaite, keswick, is the person you are looking for called gates or gate.
i have found a baptism for a john gates 29/9/1824 to a john and ann gates.(crosthwaite)
also a john gate baptised 6/6/1823 to a daniel and elizabeth gate (keswick)

my records only go from 1813-1839

Hi Michael,

According to census records (and who expects them to be correct!!) his name was John Gates born in Keswick in 1824.

I have been in touch with  someone who "claims" the other John Gate in 1823 to Daniel and Elizabeth as they are related to their child Daniel born 1819 in Keswick.

So the answer is YES 

John Gates born to John & Ann is mine - have you any other details (address & Occupation?)  - and perhaps you would be good enough to look up any other children born to them.
According to IGI these are listed as follows:
Elizabeth -1819;Jacob - 1821;Frances - 1825; William - 1826; Jane - 1830; Mark - 1835;Joseph - 1837; and Daniel 1842 (which I realise is outside your timelimit.)

The trouble is as I have just been to Whitchurch Library looking up Parish Records for someone on Rootschat - I know that IGI and Parish records do not always tally!!

all baptised in crosthwaite
i have looked for deaths but found none from 1813-1839
