Thanks Nigel - it's good to know it's the right area.
It's looking like a strong possibilty I have the right family.

Hi Kali
I had to go back and read the previous postings - and came away a little bit confused - but the general feeling was that no one else could figure out just how the Newcastle bit fit in either - seems like the other bits fit but will  have to keep working away at this one.
Thanks for the info.

If you type "Newcastle, Glamorgan" into Yahoo, it should help.

There was a link for GENUKI, but I closed the window and forgot to take the link.

I'm not sure exactly where it is, but it's definatelky in the borough of Bridgend, which is close to both Maesteg and Cowbridge
census info is Crown Copyright from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Buckley - Maesteg, Tipperary
Lane - Waterford
Hughes - Hay/Hereford
Hobby - Byford
Evans - Neath/Cadoxton
Whitty - Wexford, South Wales
Connell - Ireland, and possibly Liverpool
White - Kinsale, Cork
Ahearn(?) - Glanmire, Cork
Millward - Merthyr, Maesteg
