Hello Bev,  Welcome to Rootschat.. :D

On 1851 census, there is a Susan Hopkins b 1780 Eaton Socon, who is a widow with daughter Hannah Claridge b 1814 & grand-daughter Louisa b 1851 in Keysoe Beds.

The IGI/LDS has a christening of Hannah Hopkins on 04 SEP 1814 at  Eaton Socon, Bedford ; parents listed as Thomas Hopkins & Susannah

Hi Bev
In 1841
Eaton Socon HO107/001-05 folio 4b
Susan Hopkins 60 Independent Born in county
Living alone

NBI has a burial of Thomas Hopkins age 65 on 15 July 1836 at Eaton Socon

1861 census
RG9/974 folio 43
Post St, Godmanchester, Hunts
James Bester head marr 52 Grocer & cattle dealer & farmer of 10 acres employing 1 man and 1 boy born Godmanchester
Susannah Bester wife 55 b Eaton Socon
Elizabeth Bester dau unmarr 19 b Godmanchester
Susannah Hopkins stepmother widow 81 Formerly coachman's wife b Eaton Socon
Catherine Maile niece 17 unmarr House servant b Godmanchester

BVRI has a marriage at Godmanchester on 25 Dec 1838 between James Bester (father Thomas) and Susannah Hopkins (father Thomas).

NBI has a burial at Godmanchester on 31 July 1864 of Susan Hopkins age 84

It looks as though all of the children you mention were from the same parents - the only doubt might be George, but you would need to find a marriage of another Thomas to another Susannah, which I can't see. George might have been baptised late. You need to check the parish register to see if Thomas in each case has the same occupation. Jim Bundy on the Bedford mailing list has transcribed many of the Eaton Socon parish registers, which you can search on his postings on the list - http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/?list=BEDFORD

Hope this helps

Regards

David

The 1803 National Defence Volunteer Muster list [threatened French invasion] has listed in Eaton Socon:

Thomas HOPKINS, was a married 'post boy' - he was military class 3 [so aged between 17 & 30; or married with 2 children]

There is also a John HOPKINS who is listed as an unmarried servant [class 1 - under 30]

There are a few EMERYs listed in Eaton Socon in 1803 too.

Thomas EMERY, shopkeeper [class 4 - so he was either unmarried & over 50; married & over 30; or married & under 30 with 2 or more children under 10]

John EMERY, carpenter [also listed as class 4]; he was a Yeomanry Lancer.

And, John EMERY, labourer [also class 4]

For details of the Muster list book please see: http://www.bedfordshirehrs.org.uk/

Try this site too: http://blars.adlibsoft.com/form.html

It might be worth e mailing the archivist to see if there are any Wills for EMERY or HOPKINS in Eaton [Socon]

In the National Archives there is a Will of a John EMERY in Eaton Socon [the National Archives Wills are just solicitor's copies - so no signature or witnesses etc  :(

There were a lot of EMERYs in Eaton so it may not help anyway - but you can download a copy for £3.50 if you do find he is closely related...

Will of John Emery, Farmer of Eaton Socon , Bedfordshire 30 September 1851
PROB 11/2139

So your best course is to to still ask the archivist & they are very helpful  :)
