surname pryde or pride

My family has been in North America since 1630's.
where can I search for early evidence of the Pryde(Pride) surname.
I am told this name is prevalent in Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Fife?
Are their English Prides as well?

I have Pride links in Lanarkshire, Scotland.  They went from Horsley, Gloucestershire, England about 1850.

I just had a look in the British Vital Records and the earliest Pride/Pryde listed in Scotland was this lady:

Date of Birth - not listed
Date of Christening: 13 Nov 1629
Recorded in: Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland
Father:   Thomas PRYDE
Mother:   Rebecca PATERSONE

As you said, the name was prevalent in Fife and the Lothians only appearing in Ayrshire around the 1750's and in Lanarkshire in the 1770's.

My 7x grandparents were John Pride/Pryde he married Christian Pride on June 5th 1694 Prestonpans East Lothian the Pride's were Coal Miners in East Lothian     Harriet
