Hi Kate,

I have some from the Latter Day Saints site but the details are not reliable and I like to make sure with the census.

I have
:-
William Horatio Rossiter 1805
John 1807
Mary Ann 1810

They were all christened in the same church as Elizabeth so the extra names will help you to identify the family.

Best wishes

Hi Kate,

Thanks for that. Is there any other info you need to track down Elizabeth's parents as at the moment I am unable to connect the family to others in Devon? I have a Rossiter married to a Mary Melhuish in Tiverton and wondered if Elizabeth's father ( Thomas) was related to them, a son possibly.

Best wishes

Hi Alli,

Thanks for that. Using the info in the thread is it possible to find a census listing for the family so I can get details of the parents and a full list of the children with their details please?

Hi Alli,

Thanks for that, Alli. It's possible that if they were both born in the 1770s/1780s they may not have made it to the 1841 Census.

There was a census in 1831 but a lot of it was lost. Just wondered if Rootschat had access to it and if Devon was one of the areas that survived.

Also perhaps you could clear up what N.K. means in a census when applied to a birthplace. I suspect it means "Not Known" but it's nice to be sure.

Best wishes
