Cass Marriage help please !!

Hello all,

I am looking into a marriage in our tree which has me confused.

I have Annie Elizabeth Cass marrying Thomas Travis dec quarter 1878 in Doncaster district.

Before this time I can find neither of the above.

Thomas lists his place of birth as Worksop and Annie's is listed as Westow.

In the 1901 census of Maltby the couple have an Elizabeth Parsons living with them and her relationship is listed as Mother in Law.

Can anyone help me ?

Perhaps Annie had been previously married so that Cass was her married name and Parsons her maiden name.  If you get the certificate for her marriage to Thomas Travis it will say.

Hi Susan,

Yes I had thought of that and am waiting for the certificate.

The only thing that makes me think it might not be a second marriage is Annie's age her year of birth is stated as 1858 on the census 1901, 1891 & 1881 this would only make her 20 when she married Thomas.

On the 1861 Anne Elizabeth is born in Westow which I think may really be
Wistow, but I will come back on that when I have perused my database.
It is Westow Malton.

Also in Oldcoates in 1871 is a George Traviss age 15 app bootmaker.

No luck with Thomas in 1871 yet.

The spelling on the 1861 census leaves a bit to be desired
if Treves, should be Travis, Thomas could be your man.
The marriage certificate should have parents names and
would prove it.
Oldcoates is next door to Worksop

It certainly seems the closest hit so far, i'm still trying as well he must be out there somewhere.

I've found 2 husbands for Ann Elizabeth's mother since the Cass marriage.

I've lost Ann Elizabeth in 1871 as well though !! you would think these people would have the good grace to stay in one place !!!!!
