Glover
« on: Saturday 17 December 05 07:35 GMT (UK) »
Seeking Alexander & Letitia Glover nee Coulter, born late 1830's to early 1840's. Enniskillen, Fer, Ireland and married there according to info on their childrens birth certificates.
I can find no record of either. First child born in Australia
May 1873 and second child born July 1874 in New Zealand.
Lived in NZ the rest of their lives.
Would like to find the ship that they sailed to Australia on and what port they left from and most of all a record of their marriage. Thankyou to anyone who can help.

Thankyou for that, I'd be happy for you to put it on one name. I realise now that I meant to put the ship that sailed to Australia, not NZ. Still finding it difficult to know what I'm doing on this site. Thanks for your help. pegdoll.

They were both born and married in Enniskillen Ireland but I've done a lot of research and not found any record for any of this. They are lost in space! Any help would be great. pegdoll.

That is kind of you. It really bugs me that I can't make any progress with my childrens family name.
Alexander Glover born abt 1844 Enniskillen Ireland
father also Alexander mother unknown.
Letitia Coulter born abt 1846 Enniskillen Ireland
father William Coulter mother Deborah ?
Alexander and Letitia  were married July 1872 ( according to what they put on their childrens birth certificates, although one had 1868 ) in Enniskillen Ireland.
They travelled to Australia, don't know when where a child was born in May 1873. The second child and my husbands  grandfather was born July 1874 in New Zealand.
Thankyou pegdoll.
I should have added that the names Thompson and Blair are second names of two of the children.

Hello pegdoll,

Glover isn't a common surname in Co. Fermanagh

Glover - Griffiths Valuation - Fermanagh 1862
Charlotte, Main Street, Lisbellaw, Cleenish
William, Main Street, Lisnaskea, Aghalurcher

There's no mention of Glover in Fermanagh on the Flax Growers List of 1796

What denomination were your Coulters and Glovers? This would make it easier in finding Church records as you'll have to rely on these when searching some details of your ancestors since they were born prior to the introduction of  Civil Registration was introduced in Ireland in 1864. You should be able to find marriage records for Alexander and Letitia.
