hi I have just found with the help of my dads cousin their grandad and gt grandad, names were

David John Edwards born 1876 in Newport, Pembroke
James Edwards Born abt 1857i think Langwm Pembroke.

Im not sure who James mother was called but Martha seems to ring a bell,

What i would like help in finding is what james mother and father were called, aslo i know he had a sister called mary born Mary in 1867, but would like to know what his brothers and sister inbetween James and Mary were called

any help appreciated

Where is your info from?  Do you have a census that you can post, or the details from a marriage certificate?  It would be useful to know as much as possible, especially occupations, in order to tell which family is yours.

hi Arranroots, i have my gt grandads birth certificate which says he was born first october 1876, Reg district Cardigan, Sub District Newport, county of Pembroke,
his father was called James and mother called Sarah Owen,
james in 1876 was a labourer.
i have them on the 1881 census,
the name James has been passed down every generation so i am guessing that James born abt 1857 his father was also called James but not 100%.

I am struggling to find James at home in 1871.  I can find various Marys but not happy with any of them.

Suggest you consider buying this cert, which might help with parents' names:

There is a name of a male missing from the freebmd transcription at the moment.  It looks likely for their marriage - you could check on one of the pay-per-view sites such as 1837online, which is complete, to see whether James is also on this page OR you could order the cert specifying that you only want it if the partner is James.

If you have any other info that might help I would be happy to look at 1871 or 1861 again.  Do you know where Mary was born?  Is it possible that the parents moved to Glamorgan?  Was there a brother John (there is a James living with brother John).

hi, im not sure but i would have thought (probably wrong abt this) she was born same place as James, there is another girl called martha born abt the same time as mary but i could never fit her in any where, if thats any help. Iwill send for the Marriage cert tomorrow and see what come of it

My problem is that I can't find a James born exactly the same place!  I had a look at the map and there is one born Elgwyswrw (sp??) and a few a bit further afield, but they are either away from their family or the members don't seem right! 

I hope the cert is the right one - give me a shout when it arrives!
