Researching WILLIAM McNEILL, a carpenter, born about 1800, who was possibly married to a RAY or CUNINGHAM. His son WILLIAM JOHN McNEILL, born in 1834 joined the army in the early 1850’s and gave his place of birth as AHOGHILL. He served in the British Army in India until his marriage to MARY JANE RAMSEY in 1864 at BROUGHSHANE Church of Ireland. Their daughter, ELIZABETH RAMSEY McNEILL who was born in GRACEHILL, near BALLYMENA, in 1874 is my great grandmother.
