Hello Doug,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Any idea of John's birth date and was he married when he left Ireland. I looked up www.emeraldancestors.com and found a few early records, this particular one caught my attention. Could this could be your John:

Record Type Parish Baptism
Name John GRAHAM
Gender M
Fathers Name John GRAHAM
Mothers Maiden Name Jane
Date of Baptism 20 Apr 1827
Church Enniskillen Methodist Church
Civil District  Enniskillen
County Fermanagh

I will send other details by PM.

Elizabeth, I'm an Emery descendant, and also connected to John and Ann Graham (nee Charlton) through the marriage of their son, William to Isabella Emery. Most of those who married the rest of John's and Ann's kids are either on my Emery FT, or a separate one, because they are all connected in NIR, somewhere along the line.   :D

Hello Doug,

Here's a link showing Graham emigrants from Fermanagh to NSW 1828-1896.
Graham emigrants from Tyrone to NSW during the same period are included. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nswgdhs/graham.htm
