Trying to find MURRAY connections
« on: Friday 10 September 04 09:56 BST (UK) »
Trying to find the birth details of my gt. gt. grandfather Charles MURRAY.   He was born around 1824 and according to the 1881 census, he was born in Scotland, but I have no idea in what part.

He had a daughter called Eliza and she was christened in Marylebone,  London.

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Hiya Swinging60,

Am I right in saying he's the Chas Murray at 22 Gurney St in Newington Surrey?

I'll presume so as the daughter fits your info.  ;D

Trying to trackdown his marriage to Ann would be a start so as to get his father's name this would have been post 1837 but I guess could have been anywhere  ???

Have you found him on any other census?  It maybe worth tracking them down as they sometimes give the county and sometimes don't.  If you had the county this would also help you find his parents because Charles isn't a hugely popular name in Scotland, though Murray is  :-\

Good luck,
Pam
