I will check on Ingletts Hall for you Anna, though it dosnt ring a bell. The Jocelyns that my mother looked up lived in Sawbridgeworth. Do you have any connection to them?
All these chapels are so confusing.
     Good luck.  Linda.

The Congregational Union was actually formed in 1831 but one can imagine that in the years leading up to it churches were aligning their names.

Hi Linda,

It seems there are at least 18 different ways of spelling JOSOLYNE/JOSLIN/JOCELYNE etc.  According to those who have traced their own lines, we are all linked in some way with the Sawbridgeworth family, then again we are talking several hundred years ago!  I have only managed to get back to 1762 with my line!

Anna :)

Hi,

I forgot to mention that they also seemed to own (though this is a bit confusing - to me anyway) Uplands Taitling cottages? as well as Ingletts Hall, all in Wareside I believe.

Anna :)

Hi Anna,
I will check that out over the weekend. The latest Jocelyn that Mum found was Sir John who died in 1741 at Hyde hall in Sawbridgeworth. He insisted on being buried with his horse in the avenue leading up to the house.
   Bye for now.  Linda.
