Hi Kathy,

It would be worth trying to find some of these TAYLORs in the IGI before you go to the records office.  I see that the parents of the "Last Whitworth Doctor" are there in grave 0065 as is James Eastwood himself and his wife Elinora (the one whose name I couldn't read in the censuses!).

You will pobably be able to make a number of connections from this information before you go to the records office.

Looking for information about the Whitworth doctors on-line, I discovered you query.   If you have not seen it already you should have a look at this book:
Author  West, John L.
Main Title The Taylors of Lancashire : bonesetters and doctors, 1750-1890
Publication Details  H. Duffy, 1977
ISBN  B7806086

You should be able to find it either in or through regional requests at your local library.

Hi Jim Jelly,
I cannot see a link between your Taylors/chadwick, and my Taylor family tree, so this might be just coincidental , my Henry Taylor and wife Betsy Taylor and son Benjamin live at 145, longsight now I believe their next door neighbors were a James Chadwick and Sarah Chadwick address of 2 back Rochdale road ( now I do not know old rochdale in 1880's on how close these address where?), but I do know in 1909 when William Todd died both Henry Taylor and a Mr ? Chadwick went to that funeral. I also my dad's mum remember my Taylor's being good friends of the Chadwicks.
One final thing my Taylor's start from an Edmund Taylor Born 1796 Rochdale and had a son Thomas Taylor 1832 and Mary Taylor so during your search if you come across any information on Edmund Taylor or who Edmund Parents were I would be most useful (but this is not easy because there are Two Edmund Taylors born Rochdale 1796 and did they have any bothers or sister's.

Hi Dan
I've had a look and can't see a link, but that's not to say there isn't one.  The names you've given don't fit with my tree at the moment.  There were so many Chadwicks and Taylors it's like looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes!  I'll keep my eyes peeled for Edumund and any possible links to your tree in my travels though!  Thanks Kathie

Hello John,
Thank you for your reply, although like you still not certain of any link, apart from the next door neighbour link.
My Taylor's for sure start in 1851 with Henry Taylor who married a Betsy Whitehead. In about 1873. I believe that Henry father was a Thomas Taylor. It this bit that I am fully unclear about Thomas Taylor life. Now to confuse things even more, one of Henry Taylor sister's  Hannah married a Thomas Taylor.
Let me know if you need any further info,
Regards Dan Tay.

I am sorry but we have been unable to notify Kathie of your reply as sadly it looks like she has changed email address - we do not know what the new one is.
