No I havent sen that one.

I know on my Grandfathers marriage cert it mentioned his father was deceased but of course they may not have mentioned that on earlier certificates or even on all certificates.

Hello Paul,

There is a chance that Joseph was alive at the time of Sarah's marriage, as I found this on FreeBMD.

Deaths Sept 1867    Reigate  2a  80
Vallance, Joseph     Age 79

Reigate registration district includes Burstow.
It would put this Joseph's year of birth at about 1788, which would be about right on the assumption that Joseph was 21 when he married in 1809.

I have just been looking at the Census for 1851 and I didn't actually realize how close Burstow was to Worth, particularly the registration district. For example, Copthorne Bank appears to be less than 2 miles away from Burstow itself.

Very close indeed.

Joseph may of well have ended up back in Burstow.

I have Vallance on my Harber line, Stephen Harber married Sophia Vallence 1798 Halstead kent. She died and Stephen married Elizabeth Vallence in 1802 in Stone near Dartford Kent. A sister?
My Harbers moved around a lot as they were charcoal burners.  regards
