Baptisms in Galway
« on: Saturday 11 September 04 01:09 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the baptisms of Nicholas Farrell c. 1832 and his sister Winifred Farrell c. 1839.  According to the 1891 Lancashire census it says that Winifred was born in Galway.

I have hit a brickwall with these ancestors so any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Ann.

Hi,

Without a townland or parish name, it's tricky to find a baptismal record. Search all other census records or certs in England for possible clues. Some census recorders just wrote the country, some the county and some the town. Any English marriage certificate should also give the father's name and possibly address too.

Hi Ann,
Try looking up the Griffith Valuation Tables usually compiled around 1855. They only list the head of the household, but you may be able to locate a Farrell amongst them. Trouble is that there are probably many Farrell's in the county or city.
