Danbury, Wiggins and Bridges
« on: Saturday 11 September 04 07:19 BST (UK) »
I am after a William Bridges Wiggins from Parish of Danbury, born abt 1784.
I'm thinking that maybe william's mother's maiden name may have been
Bridges.
Can anyone tell me (I am in Australia) where and/or how I might be able to find parish registers for this time period.

Jennean.........australia

Hi Jennean....Here in Australia Parish Records can b ordered in by the LDS Family History Library. For a minimun charge really just to cover the postage they will order them in for u. They give u a ring when they get them and hang on to them for about 3 weeks to give u ample time to get in and c them. I am in a country town but don't find it difficult to get in and view them. I always book when I know I am going to town to make sure I have a reader. Here in SA there r a few libraries where u can order them from and I am sure same would apply in the other states.
Hope this has helped
Kris

Thanks for that, does the library have to be a lds library, as the closest one to me is 2 hours drive away, I also live in a country town - nsw.  Our local library has its own family history room - maybe they can order them, I will check it out.

regards,

No Sorry Jennean It does have to b a LDS library...They r the ones who have the records. I am over 2 hours away myself but as I said they let u know when they have arrived and u then have 3 weeks to visit. Would b a worry if u had 2 get there immediately but u have plenty of time. The local library FH room is great for local records and mine here has all the SA records but for anything else I have to go to town...in SA all the St Cath records are in the main Library in Adelaide but not parish records. U do need the LDS for them I am afraid.
Good Luck
Kris
