I have a robert galt gray born abt 1815 ,edinburgh, thats by his death cert ,in vic Australia,he wed to mary Mackay, in 1836, edin,
he arrived in hobart upon the ship Lillia 1843, with wife & 2 children ,I have only found one being euphemia ferguson  gray,
he had 5 more children in hobart,& was a missioner  25Yrs up to his death in 1878, i have been unable to find his birth on the igi;s & have come to a full stop,also with this 2nd child who came to hobart,
I find on the igi ,there seems another euphemia ferguson "galt "gray ,born the same day ," 28 sep 1837  saint cuthberts edin midlothianput to a grant  "galt" gray, & mary ferguson, yet she has to be the same child , because mine also died 1900 in New zealand,?? she wed to a widower thomas euphamie TILY/Lily
would anybody be able to shed some light on this,

Euphemia Ferguson Gray 28/9/1837 St Cuthberts Edinburgh.
Father Robert Gray.
Mother Mary Mackay

This is the correct Old Parish Records..

the other records you are reading, regarding the same girl.....

Is a personal submission, by a relative to euphemia, and the error of Ferguson, is what the submitter thought was Euphemia's mother's surname.
Basically keep to what has a batch number at the bottom as fact, and be extremely cautious about submitters..... but you will find that whoever submitted these findings, is a relative of your own.
Regading the other child, I'll see if they show up on the 1841 Census.

I have found them in the 1841 census, but sadly not the other child.

So from this you can learn that Robert was born in Midlothian, along with Euphemia,Mary was born out of the county.

In the 1848 census is the following..... you can purchase this page and you find all in the household. including the missing child......

Hi again!!!!

I feel that this could have something to do with your Robert Galt Gray.
He may have been illegitamate, to be carrying the Gray as his last name. This is all a possibility...

It is a bit of a worry that if your Robert Galt Gray, didn't change his name to Galt, I could be barking up the wrong tree.
It seems possible that these are your Robert's parents, and he was born before they married.
