John Quine - Margaret Kelly

Stuck on this generation

Trying to find information on John Quine (believed to be Strang / Braddan area) who married a Margaret Kelly ( born circa 1790 -1805)

 

Next generation

They had a son John Quine who married Mary Ann Cowley (Kewley)  at Bradden on 6 October 1844

Mary Ann Cowley  was the child of Edward Cowley of the Strang (died 7 Nov 1870 aged 85 buried in Bradden) and Ann Cowley (who died 3 April 1874 aged 86 years buried in Bradden)

 

Next generation

John Quine and Mary Ann Cowley (Kewley?) their son was:

Johnathon Quine (died 9 Sept 1922 aged 78 years)  he married Margaret Roberts (died 2 June 1948 aged 90 years)

 If you have any info upwards on this  family line it would be really appreciated

That is the census record from 1851.  Unfortunately I don't have access to other BMD records for the Isle of Man - Hopefully someone else will though!

(Unfortunately this parish entry most likely won't give any further useful information as they didn't really start adding in parent's details and ages etc until about 1849)

Not much help for going further back in time though, is it? 

I suppose you could try and investigate the nephew listed in the 1851 census.  The full reference for the census is:
HO107/2525, ED 5, Folio 463, Page 8, Schedule 28
Address: Braddan, Ballachrink

Benjamin Kneale, Nephew, 7, Scholar, Onchan (not Oudean)

Benjamin is still living with Margaret Quine and the Jelly family in 1861 (do you have this or would you like a transcription?).

IGI has:

BENJAMIN KNEALE 
Christened 25 NOV 1843
Saint Lukes, Baldwin, Isle Of Man
Father:  JOSEPH KNEALE
Mother:  ISABELLA KELLY

So it is possible that Isabella is Margaret's sister.  You could check out any matching IGI records for other births to Joseph and Isabella and their marriage.  Then try to match a family for Isabella and Margaret also using the IGI.  It might take a bit of trial and error but it's a start.
