1841 - Harperley Mill, Kyo, Durham
« on: Saturday 31 December 05 23:12 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the Hobson Family who owned the mill. In particular George Hobson who would be about 16 and probably living with grandparents.

Can anyone kindly look up the census and tell me who is living there.

Thanks ;D

I can only find one entry for Harperley in Kyo Township in 1841:

HO 107/ 301/Book 16/ Page 38
Kyo Township, Harperley

Edward Reavley  70  Farmer  Y
Mary  do  60  Y
Edward  do  25  Y
Mary Ann  do  20  Y
William Oxley  15  MS  Y

Could not find anyone called Hobson in either Books 15 or 16 which cover Kyo. Sorry  :(

You might like to check out this link

and look at entry 0353, this person seems to be following up the Liddell and Hobson families at Kyo as well.

Happy New Year

Jennifer  :)

Thanks for looking Jennifer,

It's a pity he isn't there George was a miller. He was born at Windmill Hills, Gateshead in 1825 but when young went to live with his grandfather, Michael Hobson, a miller. In the 1851 census George was at Kyo Laws, Durham, England. Maybe he was still in Gateshead in 1841 Census.

I'll just have to keep looking.
