There are several but none of them say "Macca888's grandad"!!  ;D

Do you have date & place of birth, occupation, who he might be living with please?

Hoping to help

Hello Arranroots
thanks for your help
Grandfathers birthdate is 1861 in Scotland don't know what his profession was sorry.
I have a census here from 1881 for an Alexander Campbell  his age as 20 and living  at 49 Church street Bedwellty and his occupation as a Drapers assitant probably working for the head of the household Mr George Ross -Draper but i can't be sure this is Grandad.
Many Thanks Macca

Sorry Macca

None of the ACs I can find are the right age.  They are not in Monmouthshire either.  Only one is born Scotland and he is in Swansea, but born 1848.

Any further clues?  Do you know who his parents were?  or anything else?

;)

Yes, there is a solution - you need the marriage details, which should show Alexander's father's name.

Then you need to check the Scottish censuses for Alexander with his family and THEN you can try to find him in Wales!

I don't know how much of this you have done already?  The marriage is on freebmd Vol 11a Page 732, Sep 1888.

OH!  Just looked up the 1891 census you quote and he was born in 1869 according to that!!  Not v likely he will be in Wales in 1871 then.  neither is he the drapers assistant in 1881.

Back to the drawing board?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
