Bishop,Barnet(t),Barnard
« on: Monday 02 January 06 15:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Is anyone else researching the names BISHOP, BARNET(T) and/or BARNARD in East Yorkshire?

BARNARD is a form of BARNE(T).

If so, I'd live to hear from you to see if we are researching the same family.

Jill

Hi,

No, sorry - doesn't ring any bells at all. He certainly isn't connected to my direct line but I'll keep my eyes open for him!

Have you tried to find him on any censuses to try and home in on his exact place of birth?

I have tried but there are a lot of William George Bishop's about and because I have no hint of an idea when or where he was born it could be any of them.   ???

Hopefully, he will be easier to find on the 1911 census. I know Wales is not yet available but is promised soon - along with East Yorkshire, which is the one I'm waiting for!!

Do you know if Dorothy had any siblings which might help narrow down the search for the family?

I meant to add - for what it's worth - that I've noticed when looking for my Bishops that there seem to be a lot of them from Sheffield.

I think this is possibly William's marriage from FreeBMD:

June Q 1904 Neath  Ref. 11a 1394
William George Bishop & Elizabeth Ann Bowen

The marriage cert won't tell you where William was born but it would give his occupation and details of his father.

Or you could be patient and wait for the 1911 census!! They seem to have got it up and running quicker than anticipated so hopefully the missing counties won't be too long in making an appearance!

Hello jillruss
Noted you are researching the surname WARTERS. I am looking for info re ETHEL MAY WARTERS, daughter of CLARA WARTERS who is the daughter of CHRISTOPHER and MARY WARTERS who lived at HIGH FORDON, East Riding of Yorkshire.  ETHEL MAY WARTERS Born 7 July 1899 and listed on 1901 Census as residing at HIGH FORDON with her mother and grandparents.  By 1911 Ethel May not listed as living with her mother CLARA and grandparents.  Know she didn't die until 1969.
Thanks
