Maybe you need to allow for possible spelling variations e.g. Hawes, Hoars, Hoares etc

Hallo again, I did a favour today for someone which involved going through baptism records for Southchurch, Holy Trinity in Southend-on-sea. While I was doing that I came across a baptism for a RODWELL but because  was pushed for time and I couldn't read the address I just made a mental note of it. The I found this later one
26 Nov 1922 Marjorie Shirley Joan RODWELL dau of Henry Thomas and Violet Helen RODWELL of 92 Mosley* Street, Southchurch. Her father was a labourer
*that was the address I couldn't read on previous one.
So perhaps your Phyllis wasn't going to a strange place - it might have been her home town.
