Awww thanks again Angela :)  I was beginning to worry that my grandma didn't really exist!!!!  Interesting about Santiago, I never knew she had a brother, just around 5 half sisters, I will follow that lead.

I got Joseph's birth cert this morning.  there are two names on it that might be searchable on the 1901 census.  Joe's mother was Ellen Jane Thomas, and I imagine she would have been about 13 or so in 1901.  There is also a Louisa Thomas noted down as informant, present at birth, or 10 Bank Street.  I am guessing that this is either mother or sister.  Unfortunately, no father is recorded :(

Hello

No problem at all unfortunately mis transcription is a common problem and if they were Italian then maybe the accent was difficult to understand at that time... On the Birth certificate for joseph what does it say where the mother's details are if she was a Thomas and no father is listed it is likely he was born out of wedlock It shouldstate her name and maiden name and address where the birth was registered

Hi again :)

It does appear that Joe was born out of wedlock, his mum's name is Ellen Jane Thomas, of 10 Bank St Merthyr, I am guessing she was born around 1888.

Hi

Well the Marriage certificate will give you the following information

Ages of them both
address they lived at
Their occupations
And both Father's and their occupations as well

also you will get 2 witness's which in a lot of cases can be family members

Details of the marriage are as follows

Marriages Jun Q 1934

Thomas Joseph Spouse Trancho Merthy T 11a Page 1496
Trancho Pura Spouse Thomas Merthy T 11a Page 1496

It would be a good idea to send for the marriage cert perhaps there would be info on Joe's father?

Also you would know Pura's father's name and addresses are good for electrol look ups...

I have also found the people very good at Merthyr Tydfil Registry Office....

hope this helps

Cas

Just out of curiosity I searched for Pura's mother's maiden name, Montes...this was the only info

at present this only covers up until the early part of 1900, this was the only BMD on Ancestry in reg district Merthyr Tydfil.  At least you know with this death that they where here in 1910...

Thanks Cas, do you think the wedding cert might contain father details then even if the birth cert didn't?

I wonder who Felise is then?!  I wasn't expecting any hits from Pura's maiden name, I guess I thought that they stayed in Spain

Thanks again :)
