Jack - Midlothian
« on: Tuesday 03 January 06 22:54 GMT (UK) »
Looking for information on Thomas JACK and Janet MARSHALL, who married in Nov 1822 in Muiravonside.

On the IGI I can only find 2 children
Christina (or misspelt Christain) b 1826
and
Thomas Stone b 1828.

Christina married John FINLAYSON in 1851 and after his death (bef 1858) she married David MILLER, born 1812 in Liberton.

David and Christina's children were
Mary Dickson m James FERGUSON (b 1848/9 in Fintry)in 1875 and emigrated to New Zealand
James Gilmour
Christina
Liley

Any info would be helpful

Hi Viv,

This could be another one of their children:

William JACK
Birth Date: 1 Mar 1824
Christening Date: 6 Mar 1824
Recorded in:   Bothkennar, Stirlingshire, Scotland
Father:   Thomas JACK
Mother:   Janet MARSHALL

You'll notice that this child's birth was registered in Bothkennar which like Muiravonside and Fintry are both in Stirlingshire and not Midlothian as you had thought.

I found the above birth in the British Vital Records but strangely, he was the only child listed to this couple, no mention of the ones you previously found.

Hope this helps,

Anne
