Margaret, thanks very much indeed for that information. I'm pretty certain the chaps surname is REGAN. A loose guess at his regiment would be either East Yorkshire or KOYLI.
Many thanks once again

Sorry Debbie, I can't find him - but the search engine for the Times is very odd and never consistent [sometimes providing search answers to words that bear no resemblance to the original request!!]

best wishes
Margaret :)

Hi Debbie!

For boxing in the army - try the The Army Physical Training Corps at Fox Bks Queens Road Aldershot Hampshire ( is that the one Wendi gave you ?) or the Amateur Boxing Association of England or alternatively if you knew the regiment he was serving in when he won it - they may have the records - regiments take a great pride in the boxing accomplishments

Good Luck!!

After over a year, my attentions have turned to this topic again, and at last, I managed to sort out a photo which is below.
There are no clues on back as to who it could be but he is the spitting image of my husband in looks and build, so I'm taking an educated guess could be his grandfather but would love to find out about any records which may be out there.
I'm no further on, so anyone's thought's on this would be gratefully received : )

Hi Debbie,

Has it been nearly a year !!  ::)

I would probably still give you the same links, as this is quite specific, but I was just wondering what the writing says, all I can read is the 1925!
