Only about a dozen Tonks in England in the 1870,s according to the census.
A William H Tonks born in Birmingham 1852 ish. could be him.

What do you know about them, share it with us we may be able to help.

Thomas Tonk was a convict at Portland in 1851 he was from Birmingham.
