Have a look at the Archives for the South Africa list, hosted by Rootsweb. Various transcripts have been posted to the list and I recommend a google search for South Africa Genealogy - hopefully it will produce a result for Heather's site. I can't find the URL at the moment.

Join the South African Mailing list at Rootsweb, we are a happy and helpful lot.

I would also suggest you search the NAAIRS site, which gives access to archive records including death certificates which will have the person's name. maiden name if female, their parent's names, place of birth, children and spouse.

If you don't know the province where they lived do a search under rsa - which is for the whole of the country.
