Hello everyone
I have the following information from the LDS except for one person
in particular, my line of course, which is not mentioned.
I am researching
Melville in Lanark but find it quite difficult to access infomation via the usual resources online.
Here goes:
I have convict
Robert Melville bc 1770 Scotland somewhere???
who married
Elizabeth Craig bc 1770 Scotland somewhere???
children: 1. Robert chr 20 Aug 1788 Barony (no further info)
2. Janet chr 30 Apr 1791 Barony (no further info)
3. Isabella bc1793 Scot somewhere (yes my line!!!)
4. Williamina b 28 Mar 1800 Glasgow
Other children were born in Sydney Australia
They were Charlotte 1803, Robert 1805, Andrew 1810 & George 1815.
Robert
Melville the father was convicted in 1801 and spent 2 years in gaol before being transported to the Sydney. He was accompanied by his wife Elizabeth and dau Isabella. I suspect Williamina died and that the older children were of age and not permitted to travel. Did they die or marry or work in the poor houses?
I have been given a website for convictions by another Rootschat member
for the NAS. I have emailed the NAS for a copy but they are unable to assist in locating Robert Melvilles conviction due to the volume of the microfilm. Would anyone know who could access this document for me. I will renumerate any costs. I have the folio etc for him.
Eliabeth
Craig I suspect was the Elizabeth born 30 Dec 1768 in Glasgow and chr 1 Jan 1769 to parents John Craig and Isabel Barr.
I gathered 4 sibs were born, Ninian 1762, Isabel 1764, Robert 1764
and Elisabeth 1765 presumed dead.
Anyone who can assist or are related, your help is much appreciated.
