The marriage of his son is 08/11/1891, the parish of St Botolph Colchester. The marriage is between Frederick William Mitchell and Maria Hannah Welham. He is a private in the 42nd? Norfolk Regiment. As I said it states that Frederick Rosier Mitchell is a gentleman.
Any info on either father or son would be appreciated. I do not know what happened to the son - was he killed during the war?
The father is also elusive - whom did he marry and how was he a gentleman etc?

Regards
Karen :)

Thanks for the info - I will print it off and have a good look at it.
Whats fascinating is the Old Bradwell, Stony Stratford and Castlethorpe addresses. I actually live in Bucks and these places are very close to where i live. Particularly Old Bradwell - it is just accross the road. My daughter goes to Bradwell Village middle school!!!!!!!!

Best Wishes
Karen :)

Hi Karen

In 1891 Frederick (senior) is living at 125 Albion Road Clerkenwell.

RG12/181 folio 11 page 19

Frederick Mitchell head 47 living on own means b Clerkenwell
Annie wife 44 b Aylesbury
Annie dau 24 b   "
Emma dau 19   b "
Daisy dau 15 b Bradwell
Maggie dau 13 scholar b Bradwell
Rupert son 11    "                "
Roland son 9  "                  "
Beatrice dau 6 "           b Stoke Newington

Have no idea why dad was living on own means though, and neither of the older girls had jobs listed either! Maybe someone died and left them money-or did they win the lottery  ;D

Hope this helps.

Great isn't it when you find a local link. I live in Northants and thought my dads side were all Londoners.Have just discovered one who married into our lot came from Finedon about 5 miles from me.

All the best,

Carol

Karen

I presume you have Frederick junior in 1901?
He is in the army in Little Warley Barracks, Essex.
Age 34 and born in Aberdare.

Don't know where his wife and family? are though, cos I don't know enough about them to know which Maria Mitchell she is  ;D

HTH

Carol

PS Just had a thought- Frederick senior was a railway worker- did he have an accident perhaps, that meant he got compensation. That could be why he suddenly seemed able to survive without working?
