1841 and 1851 census Durham St. Nicholas Drinnan or Drinning
« on: Tuesday 10 January 06 13:04 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to see if they can find an entry in the above censuses for Archibald Drinnan and, in 1851, his wife Jane. They married in 1849 from Back Lane Claypath and in 1861 and 1871 lived in Gilesgate.

Around 1851 they might have gone under the name Drinning (as they did a little later - he was a Scottish weaver -was there some trouble in the industry which might have caused the name change?).

He could have still been in Kilmarnock in 1841.

I'll be very grateful for any help anyone can provide.

Thanks

Jack

Just realised this was posted twice and the answer has already been given in the duplicate below.  Sorry.  Can a mod delete this?

Hi

I'm not clear what this was about but thanks for taking an interest.

I got the 1851 info from Bekasgran but have no 1841 info. I looked in Freecen which is available for Kilmarnock but can see no sign of him there.

So if anyone has Durham City 1841 census I'd be grateful if they could look.

I don't suppose you can find any other Drinnan or Drinnin or Drinnings round about in 1851

Anyway thanks again.

Jack

I posted the Drinnins 1851 listing, but when I saw it had already been answered in the duplicate thread, I edited my post as it's superfluous having the info twice.

Well thanks again anyway - the thought was there.
