Illegitimate BURROUGHS children
« on: Tuesday 10 January 06 18:28 GMT (UK) »
I have another small mystery here.

I'm trying to find out what happened to my second gt aunt (sister of my gt gt grandfather) Frances Burrough, and her children. I have traced Frances all through the census records from 1841 (at age 10 - she was born in 1832)  right up to 1891 (transcript says age 41 although she was actually 59).

In 1871 Francis Burrows is listed as living in Newton Poppleford, Aylesbeare parish with the children Ellen, James & Edward.

1871 census

Edward Burrows
aged 2
born  Ottery St Mary

Ellen Burrows
aged 14
born Ottery St Mary

Francis Burrows
aged 35
born  Ottery St Mary
Head

James Burrows
aged 11
born Ottery St Mary

In the 1881 census she is listed in Aylesbeare parish as Fany Borrows with Ellen & Edward.

Fany BORROWS
Head    Widowed
age 49
born Ottery St Mary, Devon, England
occupation Silk Throwing

Ellen BORROWS
Daur Unmarried
Age  24
Born Ottery St Mary
Occupation Silk Throwing

Edward BORROWS
Son  Unmarried
age 14
born Ottery St Mary
Occupation Silk Throwing

Although Frances says she was a widow, I actually dont believe that she was ever married.
In 1891 Frances was living in Axminster with her sister Sarah Foxwell.

Where are James & Edward? Can anyone find James in 1881 and either James or Edward in 1891 and 1901 census record? OR their death registration if they died.

I've looked and looked and cant seem to find anything.

Thanks
